Table 1.

Advantages and Disadvantages of the Technique

Advantages
  • Fully arthroscopic approach.

  • Metal-free fixation implants.

  • Small glenoid drill tunnels (2.4 mm), using a specific guide, are the smallest described up to date.

  • The subscapularis passage of the graft is performed with the help of two switching stick or with a specific self-retaining retractor.

  • Strong compression of the graft, like 2 bolts. The construct mimics a small plate, providing a larger footprint compression and superior bone graft stability.

  • Control of rotational stability of the coracoid with the FiberTape Cerclage System.

  • Does not require the placement of a dangerous deep medial or axillary portal.

Disadvantages
  • Demanding technique, mainly for surgeons with a high volume of shoulder instability cases.

  • Needs for longer surgical time compared to an open procedure or the mini-open approach to obtain the coracoid.

  • Longer learning curve.

  • More expensive procedure than the open approach.
