Growth of C. difficile 630∆erm after treatment with nisin. Cell culture was performed at 37 °C in brain heart infusion (BHI) in an anaerobic chamber. At OD_{600 nm} = 0.4 (exponential growth phase, corresponding to 4.06 ∗ 10⁷ ± 7.84 ∗ 10⁶ cfu/mL) cultures were either treated with nisin (shades of orange) or left untreated (control, blue). Samples were taken before the treatment (time = 0 min, control), 90 min and 180 min after addition of 50 µg/L nisin.
