Protoplasts staining with FDA and rhd123. Plasma membrane stability and cell activity detected with fluorescein diacetate (FDA) and Rhodamine 123 (rhd123), respectively. 1 µM FDA and 1 µM rhd123 were added to the protoplast suspension at 1 h after isolation. Images were captured at 3 and 24 h after isolation. DAI- Day after isolation. The rhd123 image has a high background on DAI 0 because the dye was not taken up by the cells and remained in the medium.
