The viral particles were allowed to pass through the opening of the suction cup with or without mask fabric attached to it. The viral particles that pass through the opening were channeled into the virus collection tube, where the titer was determined by TCID50 assessment. The relative viral entrapment efficacy was determined in comparison to non-mask condition according to the formula “Relative % entrapment = Viral titer in the collection tube with mask/Viral titer in the collection tube without mask x 100”. Each value was expressed as the mean ± SEM (n = 2). aP < 0.05, and bP < 0.01.
