Schematic of viscoelastic testing with a specimen of whole blood in a cup heated to 37°C. With thromboelastography (TEG), the cup oscillates with the pin remaining stationary, whereas with rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM), the pin oscillates while the cup remains stationary.
