SMEF inhibits osteoclastic-specific proteins, NFATc1 and MMP-9 expression. (A) RAW264.7 cells were pretreated with SMEF in concentrations of 0, 12.5, 25, and 50 μg/mL for 12 h and stimulated by RANKL (100 ng/mL) for 10 min. Nuclear extracts were prepared and analyzed by Western blot analysis. (B) RAW264.7 cells were cotreated with SMEF in concentrations of 0, 12.5, 25, and 50 μg/mL and RANKL (100 ng/mL) for 2 days. Culture supernatants of treated cells were collected, and secretion of MMP-9 was analyzed by gelatin zymography.
