HAND algorithm parameter exploration. (A) Counting error for the arm-only exercise and the hand-only exercise for different thresholds (represented by the colors) and cutoffs (represented by the markers) for the low-pass filter. For the arm-only exercise, the error is calculated as the percentage of hand counts to the number of arm-only movements averaged across subjects. For the hand-only exercise, the error is calculated as the absolute difference between the number of hand counts as a percentage to the number of actual hand movements performed averaged across subjects. For both exercises, smaller errors are preferred. The errors for the selected parameters (LP filter cut-off = 8 Hz, threshold = 8) are highlighted.
