Figure 3

Phospholipid fatty acid (PLFA) biomarker concentrations obtained from the wetland soil samples. (a) G; (b) G+; (c) G+/G; (d) arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF); (e) B; (f) F; and (g) F/B. Soil samples were collected from three areas of wetland: bare flat (BF) land, land invaded by Spartina alterniflora (SA), and land occupied by Phragmites australis (PA). Soil fungi (F), Gram-positive (G+) bacteria, Gram-negative (G) bacteria, and arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) were identified based on their specific PLFA biomarkers. B represents the total bacteria as the sum of G+, G, 15:0, and 17:0; G+/G represents the ratio of Gram-positive to Gram-negative bacteria; and F/B represents the ratio of fungi to bacteria. Vertical bars indicate the standard deviation of the mean (n = 3). For each parameter, different letters indicate significant differences between means at P < 0.05.
