Proliferation and cytokine production of autologous T cells during in vitro co-culture with human monocyte-derived macrophages exposed to RABV. Proliferation of CFSE-stained T cells was quantified by flow cytometry after 3.5 days of co-culture with autologous MDMs previously exposed to RABV (MOI = 50). T cells cultured in the presence of macrophages that were not exposed to RABV were taken along as controls. Individual donors (n = 7) are shown in (A) and representative CFSE plots showing the fluorescent intensity and percentages of proliferation are shown in (B). Cytokine concentrations were determined in the supernatant (n = 6) using a cytometric bead assay and are shown in (C).
