Turnover rates of TSGs in cetaceans. (a) The first model represents the rate of evolution (λ) of TSGs for the total group of Cetacea (orange) and the rate of evolution of TSGs for the outgroup (grey). The λ values show that the gene turnover rate of TSGs in cetaceans is almost 2.4 times faster than for other placental mammals. (b) In the second model, the λ values represent the rate of evolution for the total group of baleen whales (green), the total group of toothed whales (light blue) and for the ancestor of all cetaceans (orange). The gene turnover rate in the total group of baleen whales is faster in relation with other groups. (Online version in colour.)
