Fig. 1. — In vitro transcriptome characterization. Cells’ specific transcription profile resulted in 14,286 transcripts compared with 11,926 reported for adult tissue (A). Transcriptome comparison between cultured cells and Acropora digitifera developmental stages showed that although cultures were initiated from adult tissues, their expression profile was closer to early larvae (S) than to any other in vivo stage (B). Differential gene expression analysis revealed a lower number of DEGs in the SvsC comparison (C). Only a fraction of DEGs were identified as orthologs of HM.
