YadA secreted in the absence of TamA and B is able to bind collagen I. Collagen I binding by wild-type (WT) and mutant tamA and tamB strains containing either empty vector (EV) or the YadA + plasmid. Adhesion was examined by measuring growth in microtitre plates after binding and washing. Significance (p < 0.05) was determined by a Student’s t-test. Error bars represent standard deviation of 3 biological replicates. Significance was represented as follows: **p < 0.01 and ***p < 0.001.
