Insulin tolerance test (kITT) in mice chronically fed either a normal sodium (NS; n = 7) or a low-sodium (LS; n =6) diet. Twelve-week-old male LDLR KO mice were fed either a NS or a LS diet ad libitum for 90 days and kITT was performed after 4-h fasting. The plasma glucose decay rate (kITT) was calculated based on the linear decline in the glucose concentration curve between 10 and 30 min after intraperitoneal injection of insulin (1 U/kg). Values expressed as median (interquartile range) were compared by the Mann–Whitney test.
