Microvascular blood flow in the wound edge during negative pressure wound therapy at various pressures using pathogen‐binding mesh, foam and gauze, measured using laser Doppler velocimetry. Measurements were performed 0·5 and 2·5 cm from the wound edge. Microvascular blood flow is expressed as percent change relative to baseline values. Note that there was no difference in blood flow response between the different types of wound filler 2·5 cm from the wound edge, whereas at 0·5 cm, less hypoperfusion was observed with pathogen‐binding mesh and gauze than with foam.
