Figure 2

A 53-year-old female with primary lung adenocarcinoma with EGFR mutation and ALK negative in the right upper lobe (a,b) that showed a mixed ground grass opacity (GGO) appearance with air bronchograms and pleural retraction on CT imaging. Haematoxylin–eosin staining (c) shows the lepidic predominant histological type of adenocarcinoma. The results of the amplification-refractory mutation system (ARMS) method (d) identified an L858R mutation in exon 21 of the EGFR gene in the tumour.
