Standardizing the neonatal chest radiograph. Adequate aeration with right hemidiaphragm at the level of posterior arc of right 8th rib (asterisk). Cephalic orientation of anterior ribs (arrows) indicates X-ray tube misalignment. Apparent enlargement of the cardiac silhouette due to oblique orientation of the radiograph towards the left and prominent thymic shadow, which is causing superior mediastinal widening (dotted arrow) as seen on the lateral radiograph. The wave sign (curved arrow) and the notch sign (arrowhead) confirm this. Note that the positioning of nasogastric tube needs to be corrected
