Experimental design for this study. (A) Mice were treated with saline or Bifidobacterium bifidum ATCC 29521 from days 0 to 14 (2 weeks) and received dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) from days 0 to 7 in the treated groups. (B) Mice were treated with saline or B. bifidum ATCC 29521 from days 21 to 35 (5 weeks) and received DSS from days 0 to 7 in the pretreated groups.
