Schematic representation of the overlap between tumor type, TERT promoter, and TP53 mutation. TERT promoter mutation is a powerful marker of poor prognosis irrespective of tumor histotype. TP53 mutation is associated with high mutation burden but the correlation with poor prognosis is not independent of the tumor histotype.
