Fig 1.

Example of time course of volumes. Axial FLAIR and axial DWI acquired within the first 12 hours following stroke onset (FLAIR-1 and DWI-1), between 3 and 6 days (FLAIR-2 and DWI-2), and between 30 and 45 days (FLAIR-3 and DWI-3). Typically, the pattern of volume change includes an increase at the subacute stage and a secondary decrease between the subacute and chronic stages.
