Subsequently, macrophages are recruited as part of the host-material response. Macrophages governing tissue remodeling by recruiting other cells including (myo)fibroblasts and endothelials cells and govern implant absorption by secreting oxygen radicals, eventually resulting in a functionally restored natural implant.
