Ginseng treatment reduced the number of inflammatory cells and expression of proinflammatory cytokines in BALF. Mice were administered (p.o.) ginseng (Gin, 0.1, 0.5, and 1 g/kg) or prednisone (PDN, 7 mg/kg, positive drug) once a day for 1 week before intratracheal instillation of LPS (A–C) The number of total cells, neutrophils, and macrophages in BALF was determined by counting microscopic fields after staining with Wright–Giemsa solution. (D–F) Expressions of IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α in BALF were measured by ELISA.
