Effect of taurine supplementation of drinking water on the skin taurine content. Drinking water supplemented with 3% (w/v) taurine solution was administered ad libitum for 4 weeks to 35-week-old hairless mice, and the taurine contents in the epidermis (a) and dermis (b) of the skin of the back were determined by HPLC. Values represent the mean ± SE of 5 animals. The values were significantly different from those in the control mice (water), determined by Student’s t test. ***p < 0.001
