FIGURE 2

Effects of the circadian clock and light on neuroblast division rates. (A) The number of metaphase NB in relation to the overall NB number was determined in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd instar larval (IL) central brains. Compared to wild type (LD), the DD condition and the per01 mutant caused a significant reduction of dividing NBs only in 3rd instar larval brains (p < 0.01, ∗∗p < 0.001). (B) The number of metaphase NBs in 3rd instar larval brains was further decreased when per01 larvae were kept in DD (∗∗∗p < 0.0001). At least 16 brains were analyzed for each larval stage and experimental condition.
