(b) Representative photographs of coronal brain sections stained with 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride (TTC) showing reduced infarct volume in Gal3-treated animals as compared to control saline-treated animals. (c) Quantitation of cerebral infarct volume in brains was analyzed using Image J program. The infarct volume is significantly lower in the Gal3-treated group compared with the control saline group. The infarct volume is expressed as the percentage of the contra lateral hemispheric area (N = 10). Data are expressed as mean ± SD, **P < 0.01 control/saline MCAO group vs. Gal3/MCAO group.
