Multivariable Cox regression analyses for the association between social isolation and incident diseases. Social isolation is significantly associated with increased risk of stroke, cardiovascular disease and injury while no associations are observed in relation to other incident diseases. HRs are adjusted for age, sex, education, residence area, country income level, smoking, alcohol, hypertension, diabetes, coronary artery disease and stroke.
