Total brain atrophy during Huntington’s disease (HD) motor conversion and rates of atrophy during HD motor conversion. (A) Parameter plot of the overall percent volume loss per region per decade approximated by a linear model. Median total volume loss (in % per decade) is presented using a nonhierarchical model to minimize the influence of priors on group and region-specific rates of change. However, the results were coarsely consistent with the predictions from the dynamical Bayesian hierarchical further presented. (B) Significant rate of atrophy in group differences (HD > control) over a decade around HD motor onset. Decay rate refers to self-connection parameters of regional volume states (see Methods and Materials). Both panels use log scale for illustration. All results are group-level estimates based on longitudinal dynamic modeling and account for effects of age, gender, CAG, and confounds.
