Ascorbate sensitizes high- (CAOV2) and low-grade (HOC7) ovarian cancer cells to MnTnBuOE-2-PyP5+. Cancer cells were seeded onto a 96-well plate with RPMI 1640 medium plus 10% fetal bovine serum and 1% penicillin and streptomycin. The drugs were added onto cells after 24 hours of plating; treatment was applied for 72 hours. The cell viability was assessed using CellTiter-Glo® Luminescent Cell Viability Assay (Promega) according to the manufacturer's protocol. Relative cell viability was calculated against mock treatment (CTL). The average values at each dose were calculated from 4 replicates and normalized against control values (CTL). Statistics: the paired Student t-test was performed. Thepvalues are shown here as ∗∗p < 0.01, and ∗∗∗p < 0.001 relative to control.
