Deterioration of renal function following IRI tended to be aggravated by HF or a HS diet fed for both 1 week and 6 weeks. BUN and plasma creatinine levels were significantly higher in the HS and HF+HS diet groups fed for 1 week after IRI. Plasma creatinine level in the HF+HS diet group fed for 6 weeks was significantly higher than that of the control group on day 2 after IRI. *P < 0.05, compared with the control group at each time point (n = 5–10 for each group).
