(B) Possible evolutionary pathways of Crocus species from the center of variability and distribution in Turkey to Mediterranean regions and Central Asia. The advanced flowering in species spreading through the Mediterranean area is well represented in the species C. biflorus, with autumn flowering subspecies in Greece and spring flowering subspecies in Turkey and N.W. Iran (Data from Mathew, 1982 [9]; Rukšāns, 2010 [8]; Fernández et al., 2011 [19]).
