Ahp2 virion proteins. Phage particles (5 × 1011 PFU) were boiled in sample buffer (20 μL) and subjected to SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (8–16% gradient). The arrow indicates ORF19, which has been identified by peptide mass fingerprinting as the major coat protein of Ahp2. The peptide fingerprints matched the deduced sequence of ORF19 shown in the right panel. Cysteine residues in the protein were converted to carbamidomethyl-cysteine (Cys_CAM) with iodoacetamide.
