Neuroprotective effect of substances on Aβ42-induced toxicity on SH-SY5Y cells. SH-SY5Y cells were treated with Aβ42 peptide (2.5 μM) for 24 h in the absence or in the presence of the compounds. When compounds were present, a pre-incubation of 1 h preceded the Aβ42 treatment. Cellular viability was measured by using the MTT reduction assay. Results are expressed relatively to SH-SY5Y untreated cells, with the mean ± SEM derived from at least 3 different experiments. **** p < 0.0001, significantly different when compared with SH-SY5Y untreated cells (CT); # p < 0.05, significantly different when compared with Aβ42 treated SH-SY5Y cells. Compounds: 6 (40 µM); 7 (15) µM; 8 (30 µM); 9 (2.5 µM).
