Average weight of all surviving hamsters in the CDI recurrence experiments: (A) low doses of auranofin (0.125 mg/kg and 0.25 mg/kg) and (B) high doses of auranofin (1 mg/kg and 5 mg/kg). Infected hamsters were treated with auranofin, vancomycin (20 mg/kg), or the vehicle for 5 days and treatments were discontinued thereafter. Hamsters were weighed every other day until the end of each experiment. The data are presented as average weight (g) (mean ± standard deviation) for each group.
