Dietary supplements (multi-carbohydrase and butyric acid) were added to aliquots of the basal diet at the expense of an inert filler (kaolin).

3

Total sulfur amino acids.

4

DEB (dietary electrolyte balance) = (Na+, mEq/kg + K+, mEq/kg) – CL−, mEq/kg.

5

Mean of 3 samples per diet.

6

Calculated as d-xylose (g/kg) × 100/62.
