Schematic illustrating the mechanism of action of small interfering RNA (siRNA) drug, patisiran. The drugs are encapsulated in lipid nanoparticles and administered intravenously. After administration, the drugs finally reach hepatocyte and released into the cytoplasm, where it is loaded onto the RISC.
