Scheme of preparation and characterization of the electrified Cu(111)/liquid interface. The Cu(111) crystals are reproducibly prepared by mechanical and electro-polishing and subsequent treatment in a H2 atmosphere at 840 °C for over 12 h. The interdependence of the interface parameters and the structure is investigated in situ by laser-induced current transient (LICT) and electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (EC-STM) studies.
