Comparative in vitro release profiles of marketed generic acyclovir topical formulations. Immersion cells could establish the differences in the marketed generic cream formulations of acyclovir. The acyclovir ointment showed significantly higher (P < 0.05) drug release compared with the cream formulations. The parameters used for IVRT: 200 mL of alkaline borate buffer (pH 9.2) maintained at 32°C, paddle speed 150 rpm, immersion cell size 2 cm², nitrocellulose membrane (0.45 μm pore size).
