The thickness of both native and reconstructed TMs was measured in the anterior and posterior portion of the TM, located 0.5 to 1 mm from the junction with the bony ear canal (arrows). Each of these measurements was taken within the mesotympanic (shown here) and hypotympanic sections of the TM for a total of four measurements.
