(A) Degree of heterogeneity in the total spectra, Nucleic Acids, Amide II, and Amide I peaks in single-cell MIP spectra at different concentrations of erythromycin. The degree of heterogeneity is defined as the sum of standard deviation in populations of single cells at the whole spectral region, Nucleic Acid region, Amide II region, or Amide I region. Examples of single-cell heterogeneity within one population were presented by randomly selecting two single-cell spectra at (B) 1 × MIC and (C) 8 × MIC concentrations of erythromycin.
