Predicted model of counter-receptor on K562 cells for Siglec-7 on NK cells. Siglec-7 on NK cells is normally masked via cis-ligands even after Siglec-7 overexpression. Some of these are released by sialidase treatment but not addition to diSia-Dex. Leukosialin on K562 inhibited the cytotoxicity of NK cells by binding to Siglec-7 and that inhibition was enhanced by addition of diSia-Dex, indicating that the diSia cluster is the modulator of Siglec-7 function.
