The mask used for CPAP was non vented (no exhalation port on the mask), so that all exhaled air passed through the expiratory port on the tube. A virus filter was fitted to the expiration port to eliminate the spread of virus-aerosol in the room. The exhalation port was placed close to the mask to reduce dead space.
