The ability of the hlh‐30 mutant to survive starvation is dependent on peroxisomal β‐oxidation. Survival‐span showing the effect of RNAi‐mediated knockdown of prx‐5 on the survival of wild‐type and hlh‐30 to mutant during starvation. Starvation was induced at start L4 stage by transferring worms to empty plates. Both strains were supplemented with either a medium‐chain fatty acid, lauric acid (C12:0) or a long‐chain fatty acid, palmitic acid (C16:0) throughout the experiment.
