Table 3. Summary of bilinear models with no preestablished break point fitted for the relationship between the particulate organic carbon formation efficiency (POCFE) with time (Fig. 3).

Equation fitted: POCFE ~ A + B * (TC < 0) * (TC), where T is the time (years), C is the year where the break occurs, A is mean POCFE after T = C, and B is the change rate of POCFE (POCFE year−1) before T = C. These nonlinear models were fitted with the nls function of the R software (73).
