Schematic summary of autoantigenicity of centromere-kinetochore macrocomplex. Centromeric antigens, CCAN (CENP-C, CENP-HIKM, CENP-TWSX, CENP-LN, and CENP-OPQUR), and the MIS12 complex were the main targets of serum antibodies in patients with SS, SSc, and PBC. By contrast, antibody-secreting cells in salivary glands in patients with SS were specific to kinetochore antigens.
