Accumulation of lipid bodies in L. infantum promastigotes. L. infantum stationary promastigotes (10⁷ cells) were cultured in the absence or presence of ACA (0.35 and 0.70 μg/mL, corresponding to one and two times the IC₅₀ values, respectively) for 24 h at 25 °C. Parasites were incubated with Nile Red (1.0 μg/mL) for 30 min in the dark and at room temperature. Fluorescence intensity was measured in a spectrofluorometer, with excitation and emission wavelengths of 485 and 528 nm, respectively.
