Unattached kinetochores result in the activation of mitotic checkpoint complex, which leads to inhibition of activation of APC/C and the subsequent onset of anaphase. TBK1 mediated phosphorylation of Cdc20 or Cdh1 inhibits the formation of MCC and drives the cell through mitosis.
