Figure 4. Participation to Prevalence Ratio (PPR) by Race.
The PPR is calculated by dividing the proportion of study patients who are White, Black, or Asian by the proportion of US cancer patients who are White, Black, or Asian, by cancer type. A PPR from 0.8 to 1.2 indicates adequate representation, a PPR less than 0.8 indicates underrepresentation, and a PPR greater than 1.2 indicates overrepresentation. Dotted blue lines indicate these boundaries; error bars, CIs. The number of trials included in the PPR by cancer type can be found in eTable 3 in the Supplement. Data on race were missing for 15 premarketing studies and 29 postmarketing studies.
