The figure shows, as an example, the comparison between observed (black circle) and modelled (red line) fluctuations of the vertical temperature profile for KOBE EQ (Top panel); In the bottom panel are shown the residuals with respect the model in 1 $σ$ units. As can be seen the model follows very well the data profile as a function of the altitude with a good statistical approximation.
