  • Prevention of rheumatic heart disease (group A β-haemolytic streptococcal pharyngotonsillitis)

  • Acute otitis media

  • Immunocompromised patients

  • Neonates (child younger than 28 days)

  • Structural ENT or immunological abnormalities

  • Patients with limited access to healthcare

  • Acute bacterial sinusitis

  • Clinical deterioration on supportive therapy
