CT of a type III abscess in a 43-year-old man who presented with only mild tenderness in the right upper quadrant and had normal laboratory profile. The axial CT image shows the well-defined smooth wall (arrow), but without any contrast enhancement. There is an ill-defined hypodensity surrounding the abscess wall (asterisk). Note the large cavity formed by coalescence of multiple abscesses, and the intervening wall mimicking internal septations
