Methods Case‐control study conducted in a fluoridated community in Canada.
Participants 633 children aged 8, 9 and 10 years old screened for fluorosis and 177 interviewed and 139 with full data available for analysis.
Interventions Case: fluorosis index score >0 (n = 65). 
 Control: the next non‐case of the same age and sex in the classroom (n = 74).
Exposure: professional application of fluoride; early use of fluoride mouthrinses; early use of fluoride toothpaste during the child's first 5 years.
Outcomes TFI. 
 Photographic assessment.
Notes Intra‐examiner reliability (Kappa = 0.93).
Small discrepancies in the ORs estimates used in the review (generated by RevMan) compared to the original study.
